Prize Giveaway to Celebrate Mavericks Invitational

By January 19, 2013Events

Surf’s up in Northern California for the Mavericks Invitational surf competition on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013. Twenty-four top surfers will compete for prizes and bragging rights.

We know many of our photographers love adventure too. So we’ve arranged for Sports Illustrated shooter Robert Beck to post images from the event on the Lowepro Instagram page. You can keep track of Robert and all the action by following “Loweprobags” on Instagram.

But wait… There’s more!

We want to help you capture your own “Maverick” action too. So we’re giving away 24 Dashpoint 30 adventure pouches (perfect for a GoPro) – that’s one for each of the 24 surfers competing in the event. Plus, one lucky adventurer will receive the grand prize of a Lowepro Photo Hatchback 16L with a GoPro Hero White camera inside.

To participate, answer this question in the comments below: “Maverick surfers are extreme athletes for sure! What activity would you use the Dashpoint, Photo Hatchback, or GoPro camera for?” Increase your chance to win by helping us spread the word. Send this tweet from your own Twitter account: “@Lowepro is giving away @GoPro camera and #PhotoHatchback https://blog.lowepro.com/?p=6941”

Giveaway void where prohibited. Comments must be submitted to this post by 11:59 PM PST, Monday, Jan. 21, 2013. Those selected for prizes will need to provide a shipping address and phone number. All results are final. Lowepro is not affiliated with the Mavericks Invitational or with GoPro.

If I won the DashPoint 30 adventure pouch, I would put my camera in it for those smaller adventures in Florida, like going to the park. If I won the LowePro Photo Hatchback, I would use it on more bigger journeys, like camping with my Boy Scout Troop or going on a hike through the peaceful and calm woods. If I won the amazing GoPro HD HERO White Camera with the awesome Photo Hatchback, first of all, I would flip out, cheer in joy, and probably faint from the excitement of receiving the rad GoPro. There are so many activities I could capture with a GoPro, that the possibilities are endless! I would film all my journeys in Florida and with my Boy Scout troop traveling to beautiful destinations. From death-defying stunts and unforgettable family moments to the majestic ways of wild animals, such as awe-inspiring dolphins letting themslves be known by popping in and out of the glistening blue ocean, and the wonderful beauty of nature, you can capture anything! Imagine, being able to capture waterfalls descending onto the rocks below, slithering between them or angelic stars cascading the night sky. To add on, you can capture clouds transforming into a romantic and beautiful scene or vehicles zooming by, alarming people with squealing tires and honking horns, with the spectacular time lapse setting. With the new shape and size of the GoPro White Edition, no more carrying around that bulky and heavy camera. The dive housing on the new GoPro’s give a whole new perspective to crystal clear clarity while filming underwater in a glistening pool or lake and makes your underwater adventures even sharper than ever! Now that the GoPro HD HERO3’s have an improved and better microphone, you’re able to hear the sweet and soothing sound of music or a lovely voice more clearer. You won’t have to worry about not understanding what someone is saying in your videos. It would be such an honor to me and my family if I won a product of yours or a brand spanking new GoPro. I just want to say thank you so very much for the chance for all of us to share why we would love to win some cool prizes! You rock my world and inspire me to go out and do amazing things!!! Yes, I wrote this all by myself and believe it or not, I’m only 13 years old.

  • I would use it for aerial videos!

For a long time, I’ve wanted to get a GoPro cam, stick it to a quadcopter, and get some nice aerial videos of people hiking karst hills and trail running in the suburbs of Kuala Lumpur.
