Surf’s up in Northern California for the Mavericks Invitational surf competition on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013. Twenty-four top surfers will compete for prizes and bragging rights.
We know many of our photographers love adventure too. So we’ve arranged for Sports Illustrated shooter Robert Beck to post images from the event on the Lowepro Instagram page. You can keep track of Robert and all the action by following “Loweprobags” on Instagram.
But wait… There’s more!
We want to help you capture your own “Maverick” action too. So we’re giving away 24 Dashpoint 30 adventure pouches (perfect for a GoPro) – that’s one for each of the 24 surfers competing in the event. Plus, one lucky adventurer will receive the grand prize of a Lowepro Photo Hatchback 16L with a GoPro Hero White camera inside.
To participate, answer this question in the comments below: “Maverick surfers are extreme athletes for sure! What activity would you use the Dashpoint, Photo Hatchback, or GoPro camera for?” Increase your chance to win by helping us spread the word. Send this tweet from your own Twitter account: “@Lowepro is giving away @GoPro camera and #PhotoHatchback https://blog.lowepro.com/?p=6941”
Giveaway void where prohibited. Comments must be submitted to this post by 11:59 PM PST, Monday, Jan. 21, 2013. Those selected for prizes will need to provide a shipping address and phone number. All results are final. Lowepro is not affiliated with the Mavericks Invitational or with GoPro.

I will use the GoPro and Photo Hatchback to go hiking from the bottom to the top of Mount Fuji..
I’d use the GoPro to document my photographic adventures and show the world what I get up to as a photographer.
I would use the Lowepro Photo Hatchback 16L as an adventure pack holding only the essential equipment needed for my strobist work.
I’d use both the GoPro and Photo Hatchback on my adventures at next year’s International CES!
I would use the GoPro to film POV skating and mountain biking. The Photo Hatchback would be used carry my DSLR and lenses for day adventures.
I would use the GoPro to capture all of my mountain bike rides throughout the beautiful landscapes of Costa Rica while I carry my DSLR in a Photo Hatchback.
I would take the GoPro snowboarding and get some awesome first-person shots. Then I’d take the Photo Hatchback with my DSLR to get some action and backcountry shots on the mountain.
I’d use a GoPro to make awesome films during my future flight training endeavors (like a tailwheel endorsement). I have lots of ideas of where to put them, but no GoPros.
As for the Photo Hatchback 16L, one can never have enough Lowepro bags; it seems like there is a perfect one for everything.
I’d like to test the Go Pro rappelling into a pit cave!
I’d strap the GoPro cam to my handlebars and do some extreme downhill riding.
I would use it to capture my next adrenaline adventure maybe for my next skydiving jump. Happy 2013 wishes to all.
I would use it to film my adventures on other planets! (Guess who’s been reading Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy?)
I would use the Photo Hatchback 16L for some daytrips to dutch city’s. The bag is lightweight and very easy to use!
I would use the Dashpoint and Photo Hatchback to carry my new GoPro and D90w/18-200 and SB-600 for day trips with the family and when out GeoCaching.
I would use the Photo Hatchback as a lightweight, easy way of carrying my D7000 on quick day trips, which I find myself frequently going on. I would also use the go pro to capture the action of my mountain bike trips, and the thrill and adrenaline filled excitement of downhill mountain biking.
I would use it to capture me skiing down the Swiss Alps. Use its fast frames per second camera to take a sequence of photographs of people doing tricks over jumps and then edit them.
